What is health coaching

At Joy In Health, we believe that building a strong foundation of good health, intentional self-care practices, and supportive relationships is essential for feeling grounded, empowered, and in control of our well-being. We are pleased to offer health coaching as part of our integrative approach to better mental health and overall client health and happiness. 

Our health coach Lizzie Nelson focuses on helping clients nurture their physical and mental health through practical, sustainable strategies. This includes incorporating nutrient-dense foods into everyday meals, establishing restorative sleep routines, engaging in mindful movement, managing stress effectively, and fostering meaningful relationships and a sense of community. By learning how to support both body and mind, clients feel more in tune with their health and more capable of making decisions that align with their goals and values. Our mission is to guide clients in creating a life rooted in balance, vitality, and joy—one step at a time.

Joy In Health recognizes that food and self care can be super-charged with emotions, opinions, and deep-rooted preconceptions for many people. Lizzie offers an unbiased space to untangle these ideas and find the right happy medium in each client's health journey.

Working with Lizzie

At Joy in Health, Lizzie offers both individual sessions and coaching packages, depending on what best fits each client’s needs. Individual sessions are perfect for those who are new to health coaching and want to try it out, need quick or targeted support, or prefer a more flexible approach.

For those seeking deeper, ongoing support, Lizzie typically works in packages of eight sessions, meeting with clients virtually every one to two weeks. Packages usually span two to four months, depending on schedules and goals. Before the first session, clients complete a detailed food and beverage journal along with a comprehensive health history questionnaire—tools that help Lizzie understand each person’s unique needs, preferences, and challenges.

After each session, clients receive personalized homework, tailored recipes, and practical next steps to support sustainable progress. Once a package is completed, clients can continue working with Lizzie through additional packages, monthly check-ins, or individual sessions—whatever feels most supportive.

Lizzie’s approach is rooted in creating small, meaningful changes that build over time, gently guiding clients toward a healthier lifestyle and a new normal. 


KAP x Wellness

Joy In Health supports clients in maximizing their KAP experiences by offering health coaching as part of our KAP program. Mental health doesn’t exist in isolation—our physical health, nutrition, and lifestyle deeply impact how we process emotions, heal, and integrate new insights. Proper nutrition supports brain function, stabilizes mood, promotes neurotransmitter balance, and enhances neuroplasticity. Lifestyle elements like sleep, movement, and stress management create a strong foundation for mental and emotional resilience. Our clients have the opportunity to work with Lizzie throughout their KAP experience, and receive tailored wellness recommendations and personalized recipes. 

By addressing the whole human—mind and body—before, during, and after KAP, Joy In Health helps clients optimize their sessions, sustain breakthroughs, and create lasting change on their healing journey. Our team is unique in that we embrace an integrative, multidisciplinary approach to care for our clients . With expertise spanning nutrition, sleep optimization, executive functioning, sound healing, meditation, art therapy, and more, we collaborate to support each client’s unique needs and experience. By weaving together these diverse modalities, we address the interconnected aspects of physical, mental, social, spiritual, and emotional health.
