This course of therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment with Dr. Marni Chanoff with collaboration with your usual treatment team.

If ketamine assisted psychotherapy with our team feels right, here’s what’s next:

  1. Preparation psychotherapy, usually 1-3 sessions with a therapist on our team

  2. 3-hour guided ketamine assisted psychotherapy, intramuscular ketamine administered with medical supervision throughout the whole experience

  3. Integration psychotherapy in the next few days following your ketamine session

  4. Alternating ketamine and integration sessions going forward, usually 3-6 ketamine sessions over a timeline that’s right for you.

Our ketamine assisted psychotherapy program includes:

Last week in Boston, I had the rare opportunity to sit in on one of our 3-hour Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) sessions at Joy In Health. Alongside Dr. Marni Chanoff and Margo Crawford, I witnessed just how transformative integration can be when approached creatively.

After sitting with the client before her ketamine journey—discussing her intentions, emotions, and life circumstances—and holding space while she experienced the medicine, we moved into integration in a way I had never seen before.

We brought out a whiteboard and mapped her inner world onto it—people, places, emotions, themes—all interconnected. Seeing it visually laid out allowed her to externalize her insights, recognize patterns, and create meaning in real time. The process was dynamic, interactive, and incredibly illuminating—a true embodiment of what integrative care can be.

At Joy In Health, we know that the real work of KAP happens by using ketamine to facilitate a deep therapeutic process in our 3-hour sessions and afterwards in integration. By combining psychiatry, therapy, and innovative tools like this visual mapping technique, we help clients bring their experiences to life in a way that feels tangible and actionable. Healing is not just about insight—it’s about making connections, finding clarity, and stepping forward with intention.

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a cutting-edge approach that combines the therapeutic benefits of ketamine with psychotherapy to support healing and personal growth.

Unlike traditional antidepressants, which may take weeks to work, ketamine often provides rapid relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma.

During a session, ketamine is typically administered via intramuscular injection. While it induces a temporary altered state of consciousness, our clinicians guide and support you, helping integrate insights for lasting change.

KAP Can Help With—

  • Depression: Rapid relief from low mood, hopelessness, and lethargy, especially when other treatments have failed.

  • Anxiety: Reduces worry, panic, and tension, promoting calm and relaxation.

  • Trauma/PTSD: Facilitates emotional processing and memory reconsolidation, helping reduce hyperarousal and avoidance.

At Joy In Health, safety, compassion, and personalized care are our priorities. Every session is conducted under medical supervision by a team trained in both ketamine administration and psychotherapeutic techniques.
